The New Hampshire Medicaid Program Covers:
The Medicaid program is a federal and state funded program that serves needy individuals and families who meet financial and other eligibility requirements and certain other individuals who lack adequate resources to pay for medical care. The Division of Family Assistance determines financial eligibility and categorical eligibility and Medicaid Administration determines medical eligibility when it is required. The Division for Children, Youth and Families and the Division of Community Based Care Services are responsible for the day-to-day operation of some Medicaid funded services and programs.
NH Medicaid Services
Healthy Kids: administered in partnership with the NH Healthy Kids Corporation, this program provides health care access to NH's uninsured children by promoting healthy lifestyles, encouraging preventive health and dental care, treating illness early and managing chronic health conditions. Health Insurance Premium Payment (HIPP) Program: allows Medicaid-eligible individuals and families who have access to private health insurance to maintain that coverage as long as it is cost effective. The HIPP program pays the premiums for private coverage when the health care costs incurred by those persons would be paid at a greater expense through Medicaid.
Home Care for Children with Severe Disabilities (HC-CSD), commonly known as the Katie Beckett option: Administered in partnership with the Division of Family Assistance (DFA) for severely disabled children up to age 19 whose medical disability qualify for institutional care but are cared for at home.
Home and Community Based Care for Acquired Brain Disorders (HCBC-ABD): managed by the Bureau of Developmental Services (BDS), these services are available to individuals with traumatic brain injuries or neurological disorders who chose to remain in community settings in lieu of institutionalization.
Home and Community Based Care for Developmentally Disabled (HCBC-DD): managed by BDS, these services are available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families who chose to remain in community settings in lieu of institutionalization. Developmental disability determinations for eligibility for services are made within BDS.
Home and Community Based Care for the Elderly and Chronically Ill (HCBC-ECI): managed by the Bureau of Elderly and Adult Services (BEAS), these services provide options to eligible individuals who chose to remain in community settings in lieu of nursing home care.
